Half Past the Revolution

‘Words of Thieves,’ Half Past the Revolutions current record came out on July 18 of this year. It’s a dark opus of metal, using and adapting conventions and then using them in creative new ways. The break downs are there but, not when you expect them. The crowd vocals are there but, come out of the shadows like a falling crow. There is some clean vocals on the record as well but, it doesn’t detract from the pounding of the drums and the chug of the guitar. The vocals themselves also never really get boring. It isn’t all just growl, there is screams and howls, to passionate expulsions of unbridled emotion and it is an emotional record. Without losing and edge every song on this record digs into your chest and pulls something out, the album WORKS for it and the whole band does too. If you love heavy music that sounds tight, recorded well and makes you want to raise a fist and smash your own reflection this is the album for you. For me personally, I can’t wait to spend some more time with the album, there’s a lot of subtly here that I’m excited about unlocking. This isn’t a one listen record. Find it on Spotify or most streaming services, you can also find the band on Facebook to keep up with their shows and new releases.
